Some small games can be competitive. Supercell‘s games are the exact examples of this explanation but they are trying to balance it a little. They introduced a system named Underdog for Brawl Stars to balance the competition.

Before the explanation of what does underdog means, I want to talk a bit about Brawl Stars. Brawl Stars is a small game but contrary to this simpleness, sometimes it can be hard to play. Brawl Star gamers are really top-level and they do not give you any chance to survive in the game on high trophies.

WHAT DOES UNDERDOG MEAN IN BRAWL STARS?

I am sure that you experienced some unfair situations and thought “How can a person like this guy match me?”. I know that every game had used an unbalanced matching system like this at least once. Supercell is now trying to fix this situation and if the Underdog system success, it will basically give the pleasure of playing this game back!

The underdog system makes Brawl Stars more playable with friends. It basically means if the third player of the team has a higher amount of trophies than your average, he/she gains and loses fewer trophies than you. To be the underdog, you need to have at least 200 more trophies than others in your team, and the enemy team needs to have an average level of 200 more trophies than your team players.

CAN UNDERDOG SYSTEM BE HELPFUL?

So, with the underdog system, Supercell basically trying to keep friends together and do not disturb their fun. I realized that Supercell is applying this system to their other games too. In Clash Royale, when I lose to someone who has a higher rank than me, I lose about 10 points rather than 20. If it comes to my opinion, it can work and be helpful for people who are trying to keep their trophies while playing with their friends at the same time. Good luck have fun!
